Final stretch & a few more box sets available!
about 1 year ago – Sun, Feb 26, 2023 at 10:21:23 AM

I just opened the remaining box set Ornate Loot reward tier!  There are only 6 available.

We are approaching the final 48 hours, and I would love to see if we can reach the last two stretch goals!

Thank you to everyone who has backed it so far!  Thanks to you, we get to make this badass zine with gorgeous art, and I get to pay the team even better!

In other news, the boxes have arrived, and I think I have settled on the exact ink I plan to use, so look forward to seeing some printing in a future update!

Meet Robin Harris, one of the artists! Also, another project to check out!
about 1 year ago – Sun, Feb 19, 2023 at 08:16:23 AM

I have been following Robin Harris' work for quite some time now and am very excited he agreed to join the team working on the Demon Lord Expansion for Twelve Years.  His work has a dark romanticism to it that I find incredibly fascinating.  In this update, I am sharing a few of Robin's pieces, and I also asked Robin a few questions so you can get some insight into the spirit behind the work.  These drawings are not for the Demon Lord Expansion, but I just wanted you to get a taste of his style!

Q: How did you get into creating fantasy-themed art?

A: I started drawing skeleton warriors (etc.) sometime between five and ten years old. I grew up running around the woods, reading fantasy novels, playing fantasy video games. My buddies and I would get together and draw weird demons, soldiers, and necromancers on printer paper for hours, all my old books from school were covered in weird shit. So, I think the answer is mostly that I was bored and had an active imagination. I didn't take drawing seriously until I was about 25 years old, but the groundwork was laid when I was a kid.

Q: What/who are some of your most notable inspirations?

A: J.R.R. Tolkien, Robert E. Howard, Alan Lee, Hayao Miyazaki, Gérard Trignac, Herman Hesse, Harry Clarke, Boticelli, Fumito Ueda, William Blake, Hidetaka Miyazaki, Yoshitaka Amano, Kento Miura, Gustave Doré, Albrecht Dürer, The Mabinogion, Beowulf, etc.

Q: What music have you been listening to lately?

A: Wiegedood, Old Tower, Spirit Possession, High Priest of Saturn, Ustalost, Steely Dan, Relaxing Elder Scrolls Oblivion OST 10 Hours.

Q: What is your favorite game, and what do you love about it?

A: Favourite game is probably Morrowind. I love how weird it is, but also timeless with its esoteric themes. I love how the story is told in abstract and subjective ways. I love the alien environments and dreamlike atmosphere. Also, the slow progression. There are many ways I'd change it if I were to remake something like it (or if I was a capable modder), but there's a reason I've consistently gone back to playing it for the last 15 years or so. Honourable mentions go to: Ico, Dark Souls, Dragon's Dogma, Shadow of the Colossus, Jade Cocoon, Diablo II, and Champions of Norrath

Q: How would you describe your relationship with the moon?

A: The moon is a dear friend of mine. For many years I worked night shifts of some variety at various jobs (that's what happens when you quit every job you have to go on tour repeatedly). I love the sun, I love a beautiful day as much as anyone, but the Night has been my refuge since I was young. Most of my greatest thinking and breakthroughs these days come to me under the light of the moon and stars, prowling around the streets with a good album and a joint.

Here are a few more of my favorite pieces from Robin.  Take a look at his Instagram to see many more incredible illustrations.

Here is another project I am backing...DCC + Dungeon synth cassette!

Check out the Sky ov Crimson Flame + Blights ov the Eastern Forest!  Not only can you get a couple of awesome DCC adventures, but you can get a dungeon synth cassette featuring some Peter Mullen art as well as a goddamn latex mask!

Ok, and now I leave you with another fantastic and deeply inspirational moon quote.  Let me know if you recognize it.

"There's a moon in the sky.  It's called the moon.   And everybody is there."

Expected shipping rate decrease for Canada

Our friends over at Ratti Incantati have offered to help with fulfillment so we can get a lower shipping rate for backers in Canada!  This means the expected shipping rate will be around $12 USD.  Likewise, since it will be shipping from within Canada, you don't have to worry about customs and won't be dinged for tax and fees.

Candle III: Fantasy Audio Magazine

Ok, so here is another one of my favorite Zinquest/ZiMo projects! Check out Candle III: Fantasy Audio Magazine!  I love cassettes with my zines and zines with my cassettes.  60+ pages of play-ready content, 60 + minutes of rich fantasy music on cassette!

The killing moon will come too soon,
